Silverettes are SOOOO much better than creams. They protect your nipples effectively in three ways: 1. They provide a physical barrier between your nipples and your clothing. Clothing rubbing on sore, irritated nipples will be the most horrible experience you can imagine. 2. They keep your nipples moist. This helps keep them soft and supple and prevents them from drying and getting cracked. 3. They provide an antimicrobial environment to prevent them getting inflamed and infected. Everytime you finish feeding, squeeze your breast to express just a couple of drops into the Silverette and then put it directly over your nipple. This is how the magic of these works. You'll continue using them for MONTHS!!! They're truly amazing. Lanololin creams try to be a barrier and try to keep your nipples soft, but it's just nowhere near as effective. I know these cost more and you might baulk at that, but belive me, they're WORTH every dollar.
